WECK Radio has incorporated several measures into its
recruitment procedures to ensure a response from all segments of society. Our
mission is to achieve a diverse workforce.
Information on every full-time job vacancy is disseminated to the local
community by notifying 25 recruitment contacts which is made up of Career
Planning departments at local colleges, Classified departments at the local news
papers, job banks at the New York State Department of Labor, local County Head
Start programs as well as the NAACP.
In addition to the above we
broadcast job vacancies on air to recruit applicants as well as provide
on our web site descriptions of all of the positions at WECK as well as
any job vacancy information. On a broader level we utilize the
National Association of Broadcasters Career Center to search for
applicants outside of the immediate area.
As our outreach and recruiting initiatives expand we find that the diversity
of applicants elevates. The biggest challenge to date has been reaching
applicants with the level of experience and knowledge needed to meet position
requirements. Overall we believe that our past and ongoing efforts to promote a
diversity in the workplace has been successful and will continue to
develop.
